Why powder coating
A hard, smooth, abrasion resistant finish without solvents
Powder coating is a dry, free flowing powder applied electrostatically and then cured with heat. Because it uses no solvents, it is a cleaner process than wet spraying, and it produces a noticeably tougher finish.
It is perfectly suited to countless industries including automotive, engineering, manufacturing, marine and domestic applications. Wheels, chassis components, brackets, covers, frames, guards and general fabrication all take it well.
You can rest assured your products are in the right hands. We prepare, prime, coat and cure in house, so the whole job stays under one roof and one point of responsibility.

The process
How powder coating works
To create magnetic attraction, finely ground particles of pigment and resin are charged with static electricity and then sprayed onto metal that is electrically grounded. The powder is then evenly melted and cooled into a thin, durable film.
Preparation
All surface preparation methods and techniques are undertaken with meticulous care. Getting this stage right is what makes the finish last.
Priming
Base coat primers are applied for longer lasting corrosion protection, particularly important on parts that live outdoors or underneath a vehicle.
Electrostatic spray
Charged powder particles are attracted to the earthed component, giving even coverage including around edges and corners.
Cure
The coated part passes through our oven, where the powder melts and flows out into a continuous film, then cools to its final hardness.

We hold an extensive range of polyester and epoxy resin polyester powders, the latter chosen where UV stability matters. If a part is larger than the oven will take, talk to us anyway and we will tell you honestly whether it can be done.
